I was arranging these tulips the other day and came a cross this crooked bloom in one of the bunches. The hearty bend to this particular tulip gave it the most interesting shape when it stuck out of the vase. Tulips can stand up straight and tall, or droop over completely. I prefer them drooping a bit as it lends much more to their natural shape. This flower was unlike any other tulip I have seen. Gracefully curved, wonderfully imperfect, and completely beautiful. We humans spend a lot of time working on perfection, but sometimes imperfections are what make us the most interesting. I would venture to guess that this tulip has not lost a moment worrying that it was different than the rest, or that it’s shape was crooked, or that it might not be as beautiful as the others. It just blooms imperfectly, and I say so should we!
